✴Structure AE pg 169 — “The carapace protects a semi-organic synthetic endoskeleton, which houses the nervous system. These bodies are designed to exist on alien worlds and are energized by power cores, not natural metabolism. Frema have a higher quantity of organic nervous system relative to inorganic that other, non-Fremdan amygdalines, as well as some organic body parts outside of the nervous system and a unique microbiome. This makes us unique among the Superorganism.”

The portions that housed the nervous system…resembled dozens of structural supports that pulled back like hammers inside a piano. Then dozens of supports opened and there really was organic matter. His brain.“

✴Brain AE pg 171 — The CNS doesn’t look too dissimilar from a human’s. It is yellow-gray, smooth, and hammer-shaped compared to the purple-gray, wrinkled, spherical human brain. They have a spinal cord and nerves that branch off of it.

Physiology

-

✴AE pg 170 — It is apparently possible to retrieve organic memories from the nervous system if decomposition has not already begun.

✴Dynamic fusion bonding (see culture)

✴Transportation plate:

☄TotD pg 18 — appears as liquid metal, but is made out of nanites (?). It is capable of becoming invisible, and is “fairly fast”.

✴Microscopic drones — cover amygdaline bodies and flows through them like blood.

☄Drone lights - low intensity lights which to Cora, remind her of “warm, red fireflies”. They are marble sized.

☄Brain monitors - as thin as a human hair, iridescent

☄Communication device - TotD pg 149 - Wiry things that looked like metallic mosquitoes clasping invisible marbles

Specific Character Descriptions

Ampersand

✴Height: over 8ft tall

✴AE pg. 68 — “The creature was tall, even in a crouch, firmly inhuman, with a shell that shone silvery white in the twilight. Its body leaned forward like a raptor, despite the lack of anything behind it like a tail to balance its center of gravity, with long arms curled in front of it like a praying mantis. It had an oblong head like a dragon, if the dragon had no jaw and no nose, and even had a sort of crest that jutted out from the back of its head like a feather headdress. But it was the eyes that were the most striking, the only part of it that wasn’t some shade of that iridescent white silver, big almond shaped things situated on the sides of its head like a wasp, amber colored and seeming to glow as if there were a dim, internal light illuminating a gemstone…”

✴Totd pg 18 — “giant by human standards at over 8 feet tall, even with his forward leaning center of gravity like a silver velociraptor. Long clawlike fingers floated over her, a head that was somewhere between a dragon and a praying mantis”

✴TotD pg 42— “His fingers weren’t attached with dozens of metacarpals but seemed to her more like hydraulics attached at a ball join, held together up to the knuckles with a film that looked like a layer of skin rather than a meaty palm as seen in humans.”
